The “Run from Malaria 5K” was an astonishing success. More than 80 people showed up to run/walk on a beautiful, crisp Albuquerque morning. Together we raised over $1,000 for the “Imagine No Malaria” campaign.
The key word of today was together. Every time I turned around needing something, there was someone volunteering to help. Most notably, two dozen La Cueva High School Cheerleaders brought energy and enthusiasm to the event. Volunteers brought official race timing and led us in pre-race stretching. Thank you to all of the volunteers who made today seamless.
Today’s finishers ranged in ages from seven years old to 81. Women had a particularly strong showing. The only person to finish in under 20 minutes was Liz who recently moved here from Boston. The majority of top 10 finishers were female.
Thanks to all who made today so special. We had a great morning and did some great work that will help to eradicate malaria.
